Register for Bullseye Running / Ho Co Striders Youth Track Team Program

Starting March 23, 2020, arrive early as all practices are only 1 hour and start at 6:00 sharp and are at the Oakland Mills High track

This program is for runners born in 2013 and before and who will be competing at many of the meets on Sunday afternoons, especially of course, our home meet on Sunday April 26 at Reservoir High. There is another program for those kids and families that don't want to go to meets and won’t be competing at the meets except maybe in our home meet. All are welcome in this team program as long as you will compete at many of the meets on Sunday afternoons as this is the team program! Sprinters, field event or distance runners, new or experienced, fast or slow and of course girls and boys. With our busy schedules many have asked a question I will answer now; you don’t have to come to every practice or meet to be in this program and on the team but you do have to come to most of the meets. Some don't want to or can't come to the meets so that is why we have the other program and if that is your situation then sign up for the other program if that works better for your family. Great kids and coaches at both programs! Sign up for the one that makes the most sense for your family.

The regular season meets are Sunday afternoons all Spring, except Easter and Mother's Day, starting Sunday April 5. This program is also for the kids and the parents who want the kids to have a chance to qualify for and compete in the AAU Junior Olpympic meets in the Summer (Qualifying rounds in June in Maryland and Nationals the first week in August near Virginia Beach so plan vacations accordingly). The regular and post season meet schedule and other notes will be updated on the Bullseye Running youth page at regularly. The regular season competitions are done in 2 year age groups, for example kids born in 2008 and 2009 will be in one race while kids born in 2006 and 2007 will be in another, etc. However our practice groups will be split up by a combination of event, ability, age and previous expereince.

Parents need to transport their child to the meets or make arrangements with other teammates and pay all travel expenses and meet entry fees.  *The Bullseye Running / Ho Co Striders Youth Track Fee covers membership to appropriate local and national organizations, practice and meet facility rental, coaches’ planning, leadership, instruction and attendance at practices and meets. If you don't have a team jersey/singlet from last year or Fall Cross Country (everyone in this program has to have one) or if you want another one please order it when doing this registration. Please purchase a pair of black shorts or compression shorts that your child likes so they can wear them with their uniform singlet at the meets. Also stop by Feet First Sports in the Wilde Lake Village Center to check out the youth running shoes which every child will need to train in.

Each week coaches will set line-ups and pick events for the upcoming meets. Athletes will be put in events they have practiced for and possibly some they haven’t either for fun or to gain some experience or maybe to help fill out a relay team. When asked via weekly emails parents and kids will need to confirm meets they will attend and time frame they will be at the meets to assist coaches in their planning. Meets are on Sundays and last for about 5 hours typically so we try to set the line-up so you only have to be there for about half of the meet so reply to those emails when they come out. If attending the AAU Summer meets you will be required to give Coach Lang a copy of the child’s birth certificate if you have not done so before; wait till the end of May when we have more details to decide who should be going.

Practices are from 6-7pm at at the Oakland Mills High track. They are scattered throughout the Spring but is a full list of the dates in April and May: 3/23, 3/26, 3/30, 4/1, 4/6, 4/8, 4/13, 4/16, 4/21, 4/23, 4/29, 5/5, 5/7, 5/12, 5/14, 5/19, 5/21, 5/26 and 5/28. PLEASE plan to be there by 5:30 for the first practice on March 23 as we have to have our time trails that day! The last scheduled regular season practice is June 4. If and only if you will be competing in the AAU Summer meets that qualify for the AAU Junior Olympic National meet in Virginia in early August you will continue practicing.

Welcome to our youth program! Look for emails from and check out the web site for updates and for upcoming road races the whole family can participate in. Email Coach Lang with any questions!
